SchedPlus command-line reference #
The CLI uses the same validation and SQLite backend as the desktop interfaces. Successful commands write their result to standard output; validation errors return exit code 2, and database or update failures return 1.
Install the Debian schedplus-cli package for a CLI-only Linux build, or use
the CLI portable ZIP on Windows; both launch schedplus-cli directly. The
recommended Standard package also accepts the commands below through its
schedplus launcher, so do not install the mutually exclusive Debian CLI
package beside Standard. Full source installations use the same flexible
schedplus launcher.
Application identity #
schedplus --version
This prints the installed application version in the form SchedPlus vX.Y.Z.
The value comes from the build metadata embedded in packaged releases, with
installed Python package metadata as the fallback for source installations.

list --sort accepts date, time, or text; --descending reverses the selected order. list --filter accepts all, active, or completed. edit requires at least one of --text, --date, or --time.
Task IDs are UUIDs. For editing and deleting, you may provide the full ID or an unambiguous beginning of it. SchedPlus refuses ambiguous or unknown prefixes to prevent modifying the wrong task.
Backup, restore, export, and import #

Backup and restore include tasks plus local update and portable UI preferences.
Restore requires --yes, validates the complete versioned JSON file, and saves
the current data automatically before replacement. Export and import use a
separate versioned JSON task format. Import adds new IDs without overwriting:
identical IDs and values are duplicates, while matching IDs with different
values are conflicts; both are reported and skipped. No command uploads data.
Updates #

update check records its result for update status. update install
downloads only the exact edition, platform, architecture, and package format
selected by the signed manifest. Windows portable builds activate it through
the rollback-capable external updater; Debian and AppImage builds report the
verified local download path for normal platform installation. Direct-download
Windows installer builds are unsigned under the current release policy and stay
opted out of internal updates.
These commands are intended for a compatible packaged build. Source checkouts, Snap packages, and Microsoft Store packages do not self-update; their update provider or development workflow manages updates instead.
Use schedplus --help or schedplus COMMAND --help for the command parser’s complete help. The legacy schedplus --raw ... form remains available as a compatibility alias for direct CLI commands.
