AccountsPlus desktop guide #

Launch the PySide6 interface with accountsplus-gui. The desktop application provides a complete invoicing and expense management system for sole traders.

Dashboard #

The dashboard displays:

Manage customers #

Open Customers from the sidebar to view your customer list.

Add a customer #

  1. Click Add Customer
  2. Enter the customer name (required)
  3. Add contact details (email, phone, address)
  4. Set payment terms (Net 7, Net 14, Net 30, etc.)
  5. Click Save

Edit or delete #

Select a customer to view details. Click Edit to modify or Delete to remove (with confirmation).

Create invoices #

Open Invoices to manage your invoicing workflow.

Create a new invoice #

  1. Click Create Invoice
  2. Select a customer from the dropdown
  3. Set the invoice date and due date
  4. Add line items:
    • Description
    • Quantity
    • Unit price
    • Tax rate (if applicable)
  5. Add notes (optional)
  6. Click Save to store or Send to email (if configured)

Invoice statuses #

Generate PDF #

From an invoice view, click Export PDF to generate a professional invoice document.

Record expenses #

Open Expenses to track business spending.

Add an expense #

  1. Click Add Expense
  2. Enter the date and description
  3. Enter the amount
  4. Select a category (supplies, travel, utilities, etc.)
  5. Attach a receipt photo (optional)
  6. Click Save

AccountsPlus includes common categories:

Generate reports #

Profit and Loss #

View your income vs expenses for a selected period: Reports > Profit and Loss

GST Report #

Calculate your GST liability for BAS preparation: Reports > GST Summary

Transaction export #

Export all transactions to CSV: File > Export > CSV

Attachments #

AccountsPlus supports file attachments for invoices and expenses:

  1. Open an invoice or expense
  2. Click Attachments
  3. Click Add File
  4. Select the file (images, PDFs, documents)
  5. Files are stored locally with the database

Backup and restore #

Create backup #

File > Backup creates an encrypted copy of your data.

Restore backup #

File > Restore lets you select a backup file to restore.

Sync with cloud #

If you have a cloud sync subscription:

  1. Go to Sync > Connect
  2. Enter your server details
  3. Authenticate with your credentials
  4. Your data syncs automatically
